BANKING AND EXCHANGE
The Currency is Euro. Foreign currency may be changed at banks, railway stations and airports, and very often at major hotels (generally at a less convenient rate). All major credit cards are acceptable in most hotels, restaurants and shops.
All visitors are required to have a valid passport, and for some countries, a visa is required. For more information please contact your nearest Embassy, Consulate or local travel agency well in advance. It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required
Lithuania has 3 international airports, located in Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga. Vilnius International Airport (VNO) is the largest one, frequented both by the regular and low-cost carriers while Kaunas International Airport (KUN) is a Ryanair hub with few other services. Palanga International Airport (PLQ) offers up to 10 routes (regular and seasonal).
Getting to Vilnius city centre by public transport
Buses connecting Vilnius airport and city centre:

Single ticket (when purchased in a bus) costs EUR 1.
For your convenience an express bus service runs from Vilnius to Kaunas Airport and from Kaunas Airport to Vilnius. In Vilnius the bus picks up and leaves the passengers at Hotel Panorama, the bus stop at Kaunas Airport is just in front of the passenger terminal. Bus schedule is coordinated with Ryanair flight schedule and serves every flight. You can get tickets at www.airport-express.lt
Getting to Vilnius city centre by taxi
Vilnius Airport approved taxi rank can be found just in front of the arrivals terminal. All taxi cabs accept cash and credit cards. Always ask for a printed receipt at the end of the trip!
Trip to the city centre costs approx. 10 EUR (distance is approx. 8 km).
Taxi carriers carrying passengers from Vilnius Airport taxi rank must apply not higher rates than the following:

Taxi can be found just in front of the arrivals terminal, but please mind the distance (>100 km).
Many antique shops, arcades create the spirit of the Old Town. Normal shopping hours during the week are 10:00 to 20:00.

Cathedral-BasilicaThe most important Catholic building in Lithuania, Vilnius Cathedral as it’s more usually known was first built in 1251 by a newly converted Grand Duke Mindaugas on the site of a supposed pagan temple.

Vilnius University - Established in 1579 and one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe, the splendid ensemble that makes up Vilnius University’s main campus buildings embraces just about every major architectural style of the last 400 years.

Presidential Palace - The official residence of the President of Lithuania.

Open: Free tours of the Presidential Palace take place on Fridays and Saturdays. Tours are limited to 25 people and are currently in Lithuanian only.
